What's the point angering the troops with this post? 98% of 98% voted for the strike that means at least 4% are bad apples. It's a fact of life and we shouldn't let that distract us when 96% are on the same page

Re: VO
Playing devil's advocate.
A pilot on flat pay is paid garbage. They're not going to make rent and need a little extra. Do a little VO, and hang their head in shame. However, now they don't get evicted and don't have to live in a cardboard box with a dirty smelly uniform.
I understand short term pain for long term gain. However, if the short term pain is homelessness and getting fired, that's intolerable short term pain.
My advice would be to get a 2nd job, drive for Uber eats or whatever. Some people are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

That overtime wouldn't exist at the junior members' seniority if other senior members weren't saying no to it.goingnowherefast wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 10:46 am Playing devil's advocate.

If you couldn't afford to come work here without counting on OT, I'm sorry but you shouldn't have come here because that can't be counted on and in normal times rarely goes junior.
The junior guys have the most to gain in this contract. Show some integrity and act like you want it. That means always saying no.

Re: VO
There's a difference between doing the odd overtime shift right now if required to sustain oneself, but I know an AC pilot who supposedly voted Yes but also bragged how much overtime they're getting these days. If you do a regular amount of overtime right now it's one thing (I still don't agree with it), but if you're bragging about taking so much overtime at the expense of others who declining overtime, then you are a POS.

Re: VO
It's a bit of a paradox isn't it. Line your pocket so you can avoid the pain of a strike, which could have been avoided if you didn't do it. LMAO.
It's called greed. Plain and simple.
Here's my opinion about "KitKat Bars"
If no one ate them over the last year, we would ALL be enjoying a new contract and a significant uplift RIGHT NOW. No waiting for anyone. But for a few who decided to fill their gullets while 80% of us passed "the KitKats" down the line, we would ALL be in a much better place right now and not facing a potential costly strike. Costly to all of us.
I don't care about the reason they ate them, or are currently eating them. They cost us ALL a lot. That's directly out of your pocket to support their "choice" to --step on you-- while they grabbed all the "extra KitKats".
I for one, will never forgive those who "gorged themselves on that velvety, waffery chocolate" to the detriment of the entire group during this process.
No one should. They know it was wrong, but they did it anyway and they shouldn't be getting a "hall pass".
Say NO to KitKats!

Re: VO
I get what you are saying but legally there is precedent that everyone stopping to pick up OT is actually considered illegal job action so i disagree that it makes a difference.RippleRock wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 5:09 pm It's a bit of a paradox isn't it. Re: VO
If it's ordered by the union absolutely, not if it's just people using their common sense to fly the contract. Pretty sure the US guys aren't picking up overtime, agreeing to extend or single engine taxiing once contract talks have broken down. However, I can appreciate the predicament if you're a new hire on flat pay, providing for your family is more important that sticking to your principals.fish4life wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 6:57 pmI get what you are saying but legally there is precedent that everyone stopping to pick up OT is actually considered illegal job action so i disagree that it makes a difference.RippleRock wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 5:09 pm It's a bit of a paradox isn't it. Re: VO
These people know EXACTLY what they are doing. No reminder needed. If anyone needs an explanation, they are either "playing stupid" or are "playing stupid".
There is --no pilot-- that dumb at the company. Not at this late stage.
They are doing it intentionally with the full knowledge that it undermines your position, my position, and the other 5600 of us.
Full stop.

Re: VO
I’m going to level with you, I don’t care that much about anything posted on this forum. I also think that a VO witch hunt is a misappropriation of effort right now but I doubt that will be well received in this thread.
Re: VO
Found the guy doing VO..
Re: VO
I actually think it would be well recieved seeing as very comment here is very much against people doing VO.
