DFTE

Any stories about DFTEs. I figure you can perform the exact same test with 3 different guys and come up with a fail a pass or a good mark.

School I used to work at (EH-TEA-EYE). The CFI was a DFTE. Partialed a crapload of people. We had an alternate DFTE, never failed a single person that I know of.

Has the pass mark changed for the PPL since ex 13 was removed? Is the test now out of 140?

Exercise 13, which is Spins, was removed from the PPL Flight Test, however, it was replaced with a power-on stall, to try to induce a wing drop instead. Therefore on the flight test, you must do two stalls: Power off and Power on, and all the marks remain the same.

The Majority of DFTE's are resposible people try to do a good job. There is always one who spoils it for everyone else. If the DFTE does not take time to explain the process and time after to explain the results he's one of the bad ones. You get what you pay for even with DFTE's

Out of all the things TC keeps a leash on, I find DFTEs are given too much slack. There is so much inconsitency amongst DFTEs. For example, if I had a student I knew would have trouble passing a Flight Test, I know which DFTEs NOT to send them to, and I know which ones will make it easy for them. This should not be. It should be that it doesn't matter which DFTE I send my students to.
