We Need a Good Wrench

Post by cloudrunner »

Just trying to draw some more attention to our ad before it slips off the page.

We need an experienced 208/amphib engineer to head up the maintenance dept here in Phuket, Thailand. He will have have 1 other AME + 1 apprentice employed under him. All work permits and travel will be handled by the company.

We currently have 1-206 and 1-208 and are shopping for 2 more 208's.

Email or fax CV.

Check you e mail! Message sent! Now ya know who I am!!LOL By the way Thiland is a great place whether yer married or single! Been there when i was single many eons ago! Can't remember much except that it was hard to blink!!! Wouldn't even mind being there married either.

I'm doing structures work in Slave Lake (on helicopters) and one of the company's retired pilots came in for a visit, He's just visiting Canada, he retired in Thiland. As did a couple of other fling wing drivers I know!

Can'tr beat the weather there! There is just something about temperatures being in the minus zone that throws my clock off!!

That 206 running the IO 550 or the IO 520??

Cheers

BR,

Thailand can be brutal for IT. Will keep an eye for it. Will PM if not received.

Yes, the weather is fine and so are the women. I am married myself but doesn't stop you from getting a sore neck

The 206 has got the 540 Lycoming in it.

Yeah, only just sent out about a day ago! Can't blame ya for looking!! Be careful though, some of the "pretty ones" have Adam's apples!!!

IO 540 I assume?? Are those PK amphips you all are using? Or is the 206 on PKs and the van on Edos?? In the photos, looks like PKs on the 206. Kinda hard to tell exactly what's on the Van!

Feel free to PM if ya have questions or require additional info! That resume is a bit on the long side, and I did cut it back already!

Keep yer stick on the ice, eh! Ah never mind, Pobaly easier for you to keep yer wick in the wet!

As long as you don't shop at Katoys R Us, you should be able to tell the difference but some require the old "Crocodile Dundee Test" if ya catch my drift

Still searching for the right CVs. We are looking for at least 2 AMEs and an apprentice. http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?t=25236

We have received a couple but due to the nature of the internet providers here, we have a feeling there are some that aren't getting through.

Feel free to send me a PM if you haven't received a response.

As for the pro's and con's of Thailand, I would say this:

It's not Canada, but nowhere is. It has it's shortcomings in terms of some of the infrastructure type of things. The driver's are terrible but the food is awesome and cheap. Heinekin will cost you $1.50. A Thai massage goes for about $18/hour. You can rent a simple house for about $300/month. A 100cc Honda will cost you $60/month to rent or $450 to buy. If you are single and ugly as sin, you can get yourself a beautiful little Thai girl, no problem, but be advised, they are in it for the creature comforts you provide them. We are located on an island and the living is very much "island style". Phuket is poised to be the next Marbella or Puerta Vallarta with more $1 to $4 million dollar homes than you can shake a torque wrench at.
Here is a link to a local english newspaper http://www.phuketgazette.net/

Here's just one of our press releases... notice the target audience...

We are building a top notch team here.. maybe you should be a part.

But what are you paying? If you want to attract somebody good, you have to show something to attract them. Kinda like fishing...

Exactly.
Not saying you have to give an exact amount, but at least a range.
The habit of employers using the "TBD" in their ads is tiresome and outdated.
There's no bigger time waster, for both parties, than going through all the hoop jumping only to have the candidate turn their noses at the end. It's happened to me on several occasions in the past, so I now demand that info very early into the conversation if I have'nt determined the amount beforehand.
A lot of time would be saved and besides, what's wrong with an individual knowing the details of what they're pursuing, prior to investing the time and effort doing so?

Happy Holidays :D

I understand the sentiments. However we are not fishing.

We are looking for people who are interested in exploring the possibilites of working at a startup company with great potential for growth, and who are willing to take the step to send a CV and show interest.

The salary will be disclosed in the first correspondance with Pat, the Managing Director. If you are only interested in making absolute top dollar right off the bat, then don't waste the 10 seconds it takes to forward a CV, there are probably more attractive "jobs" right in your back yard.

This is a very well financed operation and those of us here truely believe in it's potential, that's why we're a part of this team and we are looking for like-minded individuals.

Thanks for the comments and good luck.

I have made more than one "owner" lots of money by delivering the goods (on time aircraft fully serviceable) with little or no support in the way of infrastructure, parts, or manpower/womanpower (worked with a number of good female AME's/ A&P's) but have yet to see the benefit $$$ from the "company's growth" I have observed a few at Westjet that have seen the return on employee effort and would like to see this as a future trend. Best of luck, I may see you as an R AME in the near future in Thailand.

Funny you should mention it.

All of us, from the baggage handlers on up, were just offered a share in the company the other day. The airline is under the umbrella of a property development corporation who is putting the assets of their numerous properties into a fund. We all purchased a small part of them with a garunteed buy-back with a 50% profit within a year. It was a very small offering but the mind-set is there, and we all took part.

2 whores, 1500 bat. Just make sure you wear 2 condoms if you can find ones that fit. No wonder you live in a Van down by the river. 208's suck to work on. At least no problem with icing there.

Funny, I worked with a guy that spent a few years in Thailand and he mentioned the same thing about the condoms. His advice: bring a crate of your own and who cares how the customs agents look at you.

Compared to the Beaver/Otter, yeah the 208 can be tricky to work on but it's not bad once you get the feel of it. Its main issue is corrosion... I worked on a 4 year old Caravan on Wip amphibs for awhile and the skin was covered with puffy blisters. Plus, the dogbone structure for the MLG really turns to dust where the float flying wires thread in. It's a disposable float plane for sure but the customers love the speed, comfort and visability.

This sounds like a good job for someone looking to work overseas.

I asked around.. sounds about right  just make sure not to go for more than one date, otherwise you are considered a boyfriend and heaven help you if you even look at another one

and you are correct.. no icing here.. because it's 27 degrees and sunny all the time. The trouble will be trying to concentrate on piloting while taxiing into the beach flooded with topless sunbathing girls.

Hmm again... considering the latest news coming out of Thailand, I think I'll withdraw my jocular inquiry above. I hope you guys over there are all OK! :smt087

Yes indeed, things got a little hairy in Bangkok over the weekend, but we are 400 miles south and in a world of our own down here.

The only "catch" is the "catch of the day".. it's usually Red Snapper.. but sometimes Pink Snapper, depending on what your tastebuds are asking for.

If you have a Canadian Engineer signing your logbook I imagine all is fine.

The taxing onto the beach thing said above only glamorizes the pilots job. I worked close to 4 yrs in the Maldives and maintenance does not experience the same thrills. Live in a crowded city and work on corroded airplanes. I only got out to resorts on occasions. Best once to twice a tour.

But I bet thailand is much better to live in. I always liked the pictures of Phuket.

Something looks very familiar about the paint scheme, would it happen to be C-FITS??
