That's all they have to say. Essentially there are very few Off-strip captains who aren't doing that for a living right now, or who haven't gone on to the bigs.

This is an essoteric skill that isn't covered by a few hours of dual. Off strip captains make good bucks for small twins by apprenticing under other captains for a few years.

They aren't gowing huge numbers of them these days, so raises are in the offing for the ones who are still around.

First Air may have some "off-strip" pilots they may be willing to deal for future conciderations.

Be Careful. If your PPC is not current you may be required to sign a training bond, like ASW's other employee's.

Are they making them sign training bonds for all aircraft or only the 705 ops. aircraft?

Arctic Sunwest Charters

Post by RedBaroness1992 »

ON A WITHOUT PREJUDICE BASIS

Based upon personal experience (having applied for a position), word of mouth from other pilots (now working at other charter companies) and other operators in the industry, Arctic Sunwest Charters has a reputation for playing nasty pranks on unsuspecting applicants, both male and female, and management left the impression that they are not familiar with IFR currency requirements.

Disclaimer: Again, based upon my experience only, but an insight and tip to those who choose the risk in applying in person.

I can concurr with RedBaroness1992. They yanked my chain real hard when i was up there. "We are hiring on friday", then "We are hiring in a couple weeks", "You don't wan't to go running all over the place and miss all the jobs. Better to stick around." etc. Story changed three times in one week. They sure seemed nice and friendly but what they said never added up.

Mr. McKnight at Air Tindi was very honest and helpful though. Told me right up front that his initial hiring was done a few days ago and waiting a couple weeks to see if they hired any more people was not a good idea. Also gave me a lot of advice on finding work up north. Nor did he badmouth any operators, just gave positive advice.

But none of the above has anything to do with ASC hiring an offstrip captain. Just FYI on the company management.
