Have the unions gone too far?

Post by Big Pratt »

I was overnighting in New Jersey couple of weeks back and could only find a Burger King open in the middle of the night.
When I sat down I honestly thought it was some joke when I saw the place mat in front of me.

I was never pro union but now I think that they have reached a new low. They are like the pusher who incites kids!
This whole campaign is designed to condition kids in that blue collar heartland of America to a pro union state of mind. WTF???
I know that it's an imaginary union but there has to be a real union behind it no? Is that borderline legal?

Check out their website too! Pure brainwashing with their own little song and all. It's worth the read.

I find it sad. What do you think?

BP.

I think you are just anti-union because the "kid" and the "stacker" make twice as much as the average pilot. and they did not have to pay for their training, got company paid for uniforms, overtime after eight hours and....geez....I gotta quit and get my resume in.

On th positive side on anedotal evidence, I was in Memphis late one night last month and the only place open was a non-union White Castle. They sell burgers and grease by the box. Eat a box of their burgers and you would be pro union for ever.

Seriously, I find it sad too.

Labor Unions have a time and place to help those who are unable to help themselves. However in Canada and the US, two countrys that have the highest standards of living, are probably not that place anymore. If the Unions truly wanted to help us here they would pack their bags, move to a third world country that makes $.10 an hour and organize them and do as they did here in the early 20 th century. Therefore labor costs would be more equal throughout the world and companys would no longer have an excuse to out-source. We would all pay more for products, but we would also make more. For once maybe the poor would get richer and the richer would get poorer, that would be a nice change. Thoughts??

The Man gets the union that he deserves.

Great companies with reasonable management and fair policies don't usually end up with unions.

Companies run by a ship of fools who continually try and screw their workers will usually end up with a union, which will complicate their lives and almost invariably decrease their competitiveness.

Unless you're talking about pilots, who are usually more interested in screwing each other over to worry about what the man is doing. Otherwise, why the hell would we have qualified pilots working the ramp or behind a ticket counter?

But like I said, The Man gets the union he deserves.
