A Negative rant

Post by 040hurts »

The company I work for operates an aircraft with TPE331 engines, and rather than sending the mechanic who is actually working on the A/C on couse the DOM goes just to get away from it all. It would be ok except at 3 in the morning the DOM is resting comfortably, while Im out there trying to get the engines rigged right, with no avail. Come the morning hes the first one to ask why the job isnt done, " the did it in a day on couse" he tells me with a angry tone. this was the icing on the cake because he never even touched a Garrett before he went on couse, and ive been working with them since i started with the company.

Bah, that was just my negative rant.

Oh, and Night shift licks the sweat off a dead mans balls.

I'm with you. Read any study on the effects of working nights. None of the news is good. It will almost surely lead to an early grave. Permanent nights, along with all the other bullshit involved in this industry can seriously affect one's happiness.

I totally agree. Nights are crap. And to expect performance from untrained personnel is also crap. The more things change the more they stay the same. Would not the much discussed association of AME's be able to address these issues? When are we going to have enough self respect to stick up for ourselves and represent on behalf each other? I think i remember this being discussed before but talk is cheap. What is the next action we must take to fix these problems?

I heard of a manager at KFC doing exactly the same thing. How do they get away with it? They must be accountable to someone?????

They get away with it because they are the boss.

I read an article by Transport Canada that did a study into the life expectancy of an AME.. not too promising here people... they were averaging 69 years... Not cool! Between the stress related heart attacks and the chemical related cancer we're screwed!!! Drink up boys!! Can't be any worse than the alternatives!!! :partyman: :D

Did Night shift for way too long, much of it in the bush. Not an enjoyable time at all. Some good adventures i suppose, but when I found a job spinning wrenches on King Airs, Navajo's, and such with Mon-Fri 8-5, I left the nightshift job and was working at the new place the next day!!!! Now I only do a nighthsift about once every 2-3 MONTHS. Wife is happier, I am happier, and I get to spend more time with my little boy :D :D

Yup, exactly what comes to my mind when wages come up, and when do you ever see any decent shift pay differentials?

Im never doing nights again, the heroes out there can have it.

A True Story Night Shift Story

Post by 040hurts »

This is my personal favorite about working nights.
True Story: First Date

Date: So when do you wanna go out, tommorw night, 8 ish?
AME: Sorry no can do, working

Date: How bout the Day after at the same time
AME: Working

Date: Well what evening is good for you?
AME: Actually I work nights for the next 12 weeks, so evenings are out.

Date: When would be a good tine to go out
AME: How bout sunday morning after I get off, about 7 AM?

Date: Dont call me, clearly your work is more important
AME: Alright then
(Drives home to get some sleep because hes exhausted, sees a Tim Hortons and decides a coffee would be more enjoyable
