JZA YT-DF-YT twice Daily

Post by dashman69 »

Startin' end of June with a B1900 sub from EVAS air. Will definitely hurt LabAir and Provincial Airlines. Will be eager to see how things turn out.

*Edit: Mods please feel free to put this in the General Industry Section.

Yes you are right, I can see people in droves wanting off a Dash-8 or a SAAB to climb aboard a B1900! I guess much will depend on the fares, will AC/Jazz put fares in the toilet and risk claims of predatory pricing on a market they withdrew from in 2003? I suppose with the Dash-8 and RJ's starting between YQX and YHZ they had to find something for that 1900 to do.

I guess Jazz's valiant customer service reputation will seduce all passengers to sudenly go on their B1900?

I definitely see a price drop in both airlines and there's is a definite surplus capacity with these extra flights being added on. Competition will be fierce, but why a B1900 when you are competing with Dash-8's / Saab's?...

I doubt AC is looking to compete simply with YDF to YYT legs in a 1900 vs Dash/Saab.

AC is recognizing the value of flying YYT to YYZ (with connections direct to YMM too). The 1900 is simply going to boost their load factor on the Airbus where the real money is made.

By starting with the 1900 on the run AC can test the waters with out loosing too much money instead of flying a half empty Dash 8 or RJ around. Give it some time and if connecting passenger demand is high enough you'll probably see something bigger (and if it's low it will be short lived).

That's my guess anyway...

I'd agree with your position YYCguy, if it wasn't for the fact that both AC and WJ already serve YDF/YHZ/YYZ/YUL corridors direct from YDF without an hour heading East in a 1900D first, my thoughts remain that this has something to do with a mimimum amount of flying guaranteed to EVAS who have had their runs to/from YQX reduced. If your going to pay them anyway, might as well fly the aircraft.

What is the EVAS run reduced to? I know they usewd to do 6 or 8 runs a day QX to YT, I guess they don't anymore. Is it still a daily service just less legs a day or is it only a few times a week now?

I have a question.

For the 1900, does Jazz hire First Year Seneca Students, I mean that would sure help keep the prices down right?

Jazz doesn't have any B1900's! It's Air Georgian's! Btw, the college students everyone is talking about is not limited to just Seneca...the students come from any college program in the country!

Provincial has a well deserved reputation for offering outstanding inflight service. I really don't think that they'd be hurt by that, other than by people who use aeroplan. Jazz can't make up it's mind about these places. Hot and cold all the time.

Jazz inflight service? .....uh... I'm reminded of something my mother told me as a kid about saying things....

(That's not an attack at the pilots: I know a few, and they'd probably agree)

Just my opinion.

One thing I learned in this industry, flying public have very short term memories... Most dont know what a B1900 is until they get onboard but if the price is right...
