Stan Miller passed away last night in Toronto Ontario.
Stan has to his credit an absolutely astonishing aviation career. Chances are your one of the 14,000 students whos name appears in his log books somewhere.
I believe his funeral is planned for next thursday, but i don't know the details.

Sad news indeed. Stan did my Commercial and Multi Engine rating. May he rest in peace.

Never had the pleasure of knowing him, but from what I've heard we've lost a great person. This is a link from another forum, http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/p ... hp?t=16199 in that post I recomend clicking on the link to the photo tribute, very well done.
Stan was supposed to do my ride for the Webster many years ago, luckily our a/c never showed up, and I got to spend quite a bit of time talking with him. I got a real kick out of hearing how he used to take fully loaded Lancs out of unlighted grass strips at night during WWII. As he put it, "We didn't have performance charts so we didn't know enough to be worried". I used to send lots of my students to him for flight test, and he always managed to pass on something a bit more to them. He was a true elder statesman for aviation.
Soft landings Stan.
