Re: WHY DO I WANT TO GO TO JAZZ ???
Not sure. Maybe you want to be in a lower tax bracket?
Re: WHY DO I WANT TO GO TO JAZZ ???
Do a search and you'll find lots of reasons.. Since I'm such a nice guy I'll fill you in on a couple. (ok maybe more than a couple)
1) No more wing covers
2) No more making your own flight plans
3) No more loading 2500lbs of pop and chips
4) No more unloading 2500lbs of pop and chips
5) No more fueling your own plane
6) Your days off are your days off PERIOD!!
7) Great travel benefits
Etc etc.. My advice to you is don't just look at the pay when making the decision.

If you don't know the reasons by now, than don't apply!
Re: WHY DO I WANT TO GO TO JAZZ ???
because if you get through 6 months at Jazz, Westjet will hire you?

Re: WHY DO I WANT TO GO TO JAZZ ???
Well not having to deal with rolled up used baby diapers full of half digested muktuk in the seat pockets in the middle of the dark season in a Twin Otter, would be a motivating factor in favour of getting on at Jazz

Re: WHY DO I WANT TO GO TO JAZZ ???
Better question, Why would they want you at Jazz?? As you are displaying impressive decision making skills. Make up your own mind man!! If you have to be convinced to go, then please STAY AWAY.
Re: WHY DO I WANT TO GO TO JAZZ ???
I talked to Jazz, they are not interested in you so your choice has been made.
Re: WHY DO I WANT TO GO TO JAZZ ???
some reasons not to go to jazz
1 - waiting 30min and more front of gate before grd crew show up
2 - non heated plane overnighting at gate
3 - 2 mins to do your post flight then run across terminal to get your flight plan then run to your 3rd plane of the day
4- do 3 walk arounds a day
5 - not having crew meal because management said "too expensive'
5bis- sharing your crew meal with f/a because didn't have one
6 - see all your efforts to give passengers a good service ruined by a bunch of blue collar
7- SSscrew-sched ignoring who does what
8- you might have a chance to work with bandit1
9- dangerous dash 8s
10- deal with insatisfied customers because you've been waiting for 45min before parking, and it goes on from the beginning.............

2 Solutions:SQ wrote:some reasons not to go to jazz
4- do 3 walk arounds a day
1) Do some more cardio - even the 705 isn't that big a distance around. It might even give you the stamina to deal with point 1.
2) Plead with the Capt that some evil doer has made off with your vest
Re: WHY DO I WANT TO GO TO JAZZ ???
If this forum is any indication, there isn't a good job in the whole of aviation.

1: Better to be waiting 30min in uranium city waiting for your charter passengers to show up at -40?
2: Call for a heater and don't board the pax if it's too cold. Did your last job have heated planes?
3: Learn ResIII, you can print off your flight plan at the gate. Call STOC, have them pass a message to the gate agent, they'll usually print out your flight plan and have it waiting if they know about it.
4: I actually look forward to the walk around, get out and stretch your legs. Maybe that's not your thing, in that case, I'm sorry you're so hard done by.
5: Not having your crew meal has nothing to do with management. If you haven't eaten in the Federal limits, set the parking break and go to that asian spot near gate 140 in T1. Order the Pad Thai, it's only semi revolting, and it costs $7. Sharing your crew meal with the F/A could work out for you latter.
6: english?
7: Know your contract, if it's not there, say no thanks.
8: I don't know who bandit1 is so I can't comment
9: Dangerous dash 8's? Give me a break. Just because something is MEL'ed doesn't mean the plane or fleet is unsafe.
10: If you have a solution to the ground crew issue, please let everyone know. Otherwise complaining on AvCanada unfortunately won't fix things.
Re: WHY DO I WANT TO GO TO JAZZ ???
Where do you work SQ?
McDonald's?
There's positives and negatives in all jobs. Suck it up. That's life. I bet if you ask some grumpy WJ pilots, they will have a long list for you too. Transat too. Everywhere for that matter.
At the end of the day, it's only a friggin job. If it was perfect, it wouldn't be a job, it would be a hobby and we wouldn't be paid.
About not working with me? I could care less. Like I said man, it's only a job. I've got a life outside of aviation and when I'm done my day, it's over.

Re: WHY DO I WANT TO GO TO JAZZ ???
The other day we had a pax relieve himself in a couple sick sacks because he just couldn't hold it in anymore. At Jazz, all the planes have lavs. Also, if someone does decide they can't make the bathroom, the pilots aren't responsible for cleaning up the sick sacks left behind.

[1: Better to be waiting 30min in uranium city waiting for your charter passengers to show up at -40?
I'm having fun here and I understand Cat

No it is waiting front of the gate, sitting in your plane, engines runnning, calling regularly to have a ground crew. waiting in -40 outside is much more entertaining at least pax are late so they don't yel when you release them in the terminal

2: Call for a heater and don't board the pax if it's too cold. Did your last job have heated planes?
it has since the beginning
3: Learn ResIII, you can print off your flight plan at the gate. Call STOC, have them pass a message to the gate agent, they'll usually print out your flight plan and have it waiting if they know about it.
most of the pilots are kind enough to pick it up by themselves
4: I actually look forward to the walk around, get out and stretch your legs. Maybe that's not your thing, in that case, I'm sorry you're so hard done by.
12hrs duty, 4hrs flight time, 8 hours in LAG, ORd, YYC whatever waiting, here is my point.

semi revolting is cool, I'll keep it. What do you do when your meal is frozen cold and turn around reduce to 15'
6: english?
NO. hmmm. you work for nothing because other people don't give shit. makes sens ?
7: Know your contract, if it's not there, say no thanks.
what is said during interview, what is written in the contract, what is writen in the convention, the reality: that makes 4 very different things
8: I don't know who bandit1 is so I can't comment
a racist prick

9: Dangerous dash 8's? Give me a break. Just because something is MEL'ed doesn't mean the plane or fleet is unsafe.
10 dash a day are grounded... ask maintenance YHZ. but the plane in itself is the best one i agree 100%
10: If you have a solution to the ground crew issue, please let everyone know. Otherwise complaining on AvCanada unfortunately won't fix things.
I don't complain, I'm just pointing out what coud be improved. first one is to change ramp contractors ACGHS, use competition. 2: simplify procedure on ground beetwen pilots and ramp to make things go more quick. 3: put 5 ramp crew every night instead of 3 for 10 flight arriving and 10 departing in 1 hour; like that jazz could obtain a 3% on time perf for once.... Give ALL ramp crews radios to be reachable and comunicate. stop reducing manpower, it costs more than you save in the end. 1 creaw meal/flight member etc etc etc. but I'm not manager, I'm just entertaining !

revolting to see such a waste.

that's how the world goes.

Re: WHY DO I WANT TO GO TO JAZZ ???
11. Pay sucks ass but we all know that... and that should be biggest reason why not to come Jazz. Cant even afford to wipe your ASS at 36 k year...SQ wrote:some reasons not to go to jazz

Re: WHY DO I WANT TO GO TO JAZZ ???
The pay is an insult -- how can you justify flying for 36k a year?
Re: WHY DO I WANT TO GO TO JAZZ ???
I wonder how the Americans can justify paying their FO's half as much?
Sure, they start at 200hrs, but so do some at Jazz.

jazz hired 8 guys only to start a training program to experiment how it'slike to train 250hrs boyz, so said a training captain.
I'd gather he's right.
they now hire @1800 hrs.
Re: WHY DO I WANT TO GO TO JAZZ ???
The American Regional college grads dont have to do 10 years up north, flying clapped out piece of shit Navajos in freezing fog for no pay, to come back to a 35 k year job. By this time, your in your late 20's and early 30's, having to only postpone your life even longer cause it will take another 10 years to go Captain at JAZZ where SOMEWHAT descent money starts... Where is the logic in that bullshit. There have only been 8 college grads so far and none in the forseeable future... LEARN A TRADE.
