Well, I read this forum consitantly and never miss reading what "." has to say but low and behold I was reading a book and unexpectantly come to... "This time . Ellesworth and I headed north from Ivanhoe Lake with four fishermen in two aircraft, a Cessna 180 and a beaver." Do you remeber this .? It is an interesting read if you enjoy Canadian Bush Flying and especially if you are familiar with the surroundings.

., I just loaded my machine and have to go check some traps. I'll be back in after dark or so as it's a late start today. I'll let you think about it and tonight can tell you if you want or let you think about it some more. Seems that with the amount of flying you have done it might be tough to pinpoint. The year from the best I can figure was 1964.

Jesus Christ that was 44 years ago and I am having trouble remembering yesterday.

At least give me a hint, how many women were involved in the caper?

From what I read "a Cessna 180 and a beaver" there was at least one woman involved!

Oh, Oh.... don't tell me someone has written about some of my unorthodox Beaver handling skills...I'm almost afraid to read it.

Is it disgusting?

You're actually in two books I found...I googled your name and found you mentioned in these books as well; the second one is even given the Oprah stamp of approval.

I actually read "The Pilot's Wife".... not bad. I mean, Oprah gave it the go ahead so I figured it had to be good.

The first name of the Beaver I was talking about is not De Havilland Siddley H.

Sorry boys that it is so late. Was checkin beaver traps and after a week of at least -25 at nights I thought I was good to go and wasn't paying as much attention as I thought or should have been. To those that know the Yamaha VK 540... well it ain't that nice to get out of 6' of water through a feed bed, drain the carbs, cylinders, blah, blah blah. Anyway, I got wet in slow motion but I'm home with at least one cocktail under my belt and glad to see that you guys have been enjoying the thread. Books called Trespassing in God's Country "Sixty Years of Flying in Northern Canada" written by George Theriault. Been enjoying it immensley. Have some questions for you . about the area. I have a camp roughly at N58 03 x W70 40. You ever fish that lake? I'll be around for a while tonight trying to get warmed up. Sheephunter

No I never fished that lake sheephunter but we did fish the leaf river.

Did George say anything about us flying in that area?

Where can I get a copy of his book?

And is he still around Chapleau?

., I'll read on and let you know more about the book. The book was a Christmas present from my oldest daughter and no, I'm not that slow of a reader but have been away... Spain / another story. I think she shops amazon. It really is interesting for the guys that have been there done that, us that are still there doing it, and should be to those that are coming. Amazing how things really don't change that much in the north. Sheephunter

George spends a fair amount of his time in sault ste. Marie, George Jr. runs Air Ivanhoe in the summer out of Ivanhoe lake (fantastic spot to stop by and have a look around) and summers in the warmer southern states with his wonderful wife.

I know aviation world on the southside at yvr has a couple copies. I picked one up for a friend there.
