Job Description:
Immediate opening for 1 or 2 dockhands for the balance of the float season (to mid October). Some remote camp work involved - familiarity with chainsaw, shovel and hammer an asset. The right person would be considered for a C180 check out next season.

Salary:$2000 / mo to start

I hope nobody takes this. You paid for a pilots license, we can't have you working the ground now can we? In case you can't tell, that was sarcasm. This is a good opportunity for someone starting out. Don't listen to anyone who says you should hold out for a 737 spot. FWIW $2000/mo is about $1000/mo more than I made working the dock 10 yrs ago. And probably more than you'd make sitting right seat in your first flying job.

It's not a bad deal, especially mid season. You go in for a few months and set yourself up nicely for next season. 2k should get you by in Red Lake too. There are worse things to be doing!

So for someone without the float rating, it wouldn't be convenient would it?

Hey VMC-DEMO, noticed all the job ads lately for young pilots? So what is better, flipping burgers at MacD's to save your ego, or a mid season job working for a decent outfit, They are offering a chance to fly the 180. I know the owner and CP. Good people. Also a close nit network of owners in Red Lake, do a good job and who knows what next year will bring.

BTW, Red lake can be a little pricey. I would be asking for some kind of housing assistance.

Never had to work the ramp, but I guess in this day and age it's a fact of life, just like bonds.

wierd that it says 180 checkout though and not on the line. is your checkout gonna be next aug and u get 50ish all summ, if so then its a bit shitty, but agreed that the way things are right now if ya wanna get going ya gotta grab ur ankles a little bit:)

Chimo's a good operator (or they were 10 years ago)-If you have no time and are starting out-brace yourself and remove the silver spoon from your ass and go to work.Just because you have a licence it certainly doesn't mean you deserve a job-it doesn't in the rest of the world.If you're sitting there pondering your navel you've got nothing to lose and a something to gain.There are a lot of operators in and around Red Lake and you'll become familiar with them.Or sit by your phone and wait for it to ring-whatever floats your boat.

Do you whiny people not realize why they need dock hands at the end of the season? because the lads that were working there right out of school managed to prove to others in the area that they had what it takes. Now they have full time employment as pilots in Red Lake flying year round. They aren't sitting at home in mommy's basement wondering why no one is calling them back about the 200+ resumes they mass emailed out!!!! get off you asses and prove yourselves worthy of employment. There are 100's-1000's of pilots wanting work right now....what makes you different from them? These lads figured it out!
