Where to get the most affordable multi rating?
I need a multi rating stat. I don't have a pile of cash. Where can I get the most affordable multi done?
Re: Where to get the most affordable multi rating?
it is quite a chunk of money no matter what. if you want you can wait and get it till you really require it. but on the other hand it does look good for a resume(ya never knoe for mabe a co-joe on a navajo..) and it never expires.
Re: Where to get the most affordable multi rating?
Unfortunately I have waited until I really require it and now I need it quick and cheap.

I highly recommend Cornwall Aviation. cycc. Do a search on here and read all you need to know about them.

I haven't been updated on the price since around March, which is when it was 350 an hour.

Yeah it`s possible, he rate I got is a year old but even that, I did a bit of shopping country wise and it was pretty much the best deal. Airtime+ .2 I think . I ended up doing it somewhere else cuz I didn`t want to move across the country for that but if I would have been around I would have gone.
anyways.
350 with the instruct is a decent deal.

Yah that's not a bad deal. I paid airtime + .3 which is a difference of about 30 bucks right there in a twin

Lachute Aviation has a Twin Comanche for 245$/hr + instructor. Not very far from Cornwall.

Re: Where to get the most affordable multi rating?
IMO the hourly rate for the aircraft has very little bearing on the final total cost of the rating. The flight time required and therefore the total cost will principally be determined by two things.
1) The experience and competance of the instructor, and
2) How much work you put into preparing for every flight.
With respect to point one. If your instuctor has 50.1 hrs of ME time and you are his or her first student the likelyhood of getting the training done in the minimum time required is just about zero. So the aircraft may be a few dollars cheaper but that savings will quickly be lost by the extra time you will get billed for. Not to mention that
you will miss all the extra value of learning from an experienced pilot. It seems to me that within each region the outfits charge pretty much the same so that means the same dollar will get you an experienced instructor like Airtids, or a know nothing wannebe like jpar84. All you need to do is a little research.
With respect to point two I told all my Multi students to go and practice all the normal and emergency checklist flows by sitting in the airplane when it is on the ground and not being used. You can learn the drills for free or when it is costing you 5 + dollars per miniute, it is your choice.
The FTU quoted price for the ME rating means nothing. Insist on seeing the aircraft jouney log and add up what was the actual time the last 4 or 5 students took to complete their rating. You are a customer. It still amazes me the amount research some folks put into getting the best deal on their next cell phone, but just blindly shop for a low hourly rate before spending thousands of dollars on flight training
