Offensive registrations???

Post by IBPilot »

So a Cessna Grand caravan that is parked across from my local flying club has the following registration: C-FGOD. I have a very dear friend of mine who is deeply religious and claims this to be an offensive registration that is unjustified. I respond by saying that it was probably unintentional and that he is finding a very different meaning in the IDENT that the aircraft owner did. The underlining question: is this registration saying something that shouldn't be said or is it being interpreted in the most adverse way possible.

For those who have not caught on... the interpretation is "F*** GOD"

My stance is that it is simply a registration with a certain interpretation that may be offensive to some.

As a religious person myself, I take no offense to FGOD. I wouldn't use it, personally, but the truth is, it's just a bunch of numbers. I don't think people who are Christian or religious should make a big deal about it-there are FAR worse tragedies in this world (same reason I get pissed off when people complain about their jobs because of pay, training bonds, etc).

At Boundary Bay there is an older Cessna 140 (I think?) C-FUKC. There is also a C-FAGZ, which is a cherokee. That one humors me more so than makes me offended. I was also at YAV one summer, and saw "FUKQ." The guy said he named it after his "ex wife." lol.
I also heard a story of a guy who got his planes registration (FKKK) changed.

If he's that offended by an aircraft registration I take it he must not watch any TV, listen to the radio, or shop at Walmart.

Regina Flying Club has a 150 with the registration FKUA, or F*** You Eh.

Also GTMO, or Gitmo. That one's not really offensive though.

Are you referring to when the kid got on the walmart intercom and made management piss themselves?

A patient goes to a psychiatrist for the first time and is given some tests. The psychiatrist draws a circle and says, "What does this make you think of?" "Sex."

The psychiatrist draws a tree and repeats his question. "Sex," the patient answers again.

The psychiatrist proceeds to draw simple figures of all sorts... a house, a car, an apple, and so on... each time getting the same response. Sex, sex, and sex. Finally the psychiatrist says, "You have an obsession with sex." The patient says, "Me? You're the one who's drawing all those dirty pictures!"
For those who have not caught on... the interpretation is "F*** GOD"
There's 800,000 words in the english language, probably almost 7000 of them begin with the letter 'F"

I hope someday I can have so little to think about that I might find an airplane registration taking on a meaning of its own....

Why was it in Stony Rapids and Fond-du-Lac, SK did two airplanes share such magical registrations?

I also searched for pictures of a Cessna 180, C-FVCK but to no avail. I'll have to dig through some albums and upload it.

In these days of political correctness run amok, people are going to take offense at the most innocuous things where no offense is intended. Every time I see an example of it there's an almost irresistable urge to slap the offended individual upside the head in the vain hope that it'll drive some sense into them. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to learn that the owner of the offensive Caravan simply went to TC with his aircraft documents and that was the mark he was issued. Incredible as it may seem, not everyone is trying to put hidden messages in everything or on everything.

The more offensive or humorous the better IMO. I like seeing the humor is some registrations as I come across them. My 172 is C-FDRI I love my plane, its a F*** Dirty Rotten Imbicile :smt082

My 150 registration is C-FELP I trained in that plane, too bad it was not C-HELP. That would have been fitting.

There's a Piper Super Cub (I believe it's gone to BC) that was C-FKUP. The guy who bought it had flown it years ago, and when he came to see it, he called it F***-up.

C-FVCK was a 180, operated by Northern Dene - Transwest probably owns it now.

Here is an aircraft I used to fly in the 80's for a radio station - and boy oh boy did I ever get my share of weird looks - jabs and comments. If only the prefix had of been an "F" instead of a "G". The rainbow was the radio stations logo since the 1960's- a kinder time when gay meant happy and a rainbow was a sign from God to signify his promise to never flood the Earth again.

And to make it very clear-and to set the record straight.... No I'm Not! Not that there's anything wrong with that..........
