Maintenance Schedule

Post by guest23 »

Hi All!

New flight school starting, but I'm merely a pilot. Been asked to look into a maintenance schedule for a PA28-161. I know nothing about this at all.

I'd appreciate any help!!

You might want to start by having a look at CAR 605 and STD 625 regarding maintenance requirements and you'll have to submit an MSA to Transport for approval and fee of course.

yes that cars section covers some of the requirements, as well as pipers maint. manual. since you are a commercial operator you will need to comply with all out of phase maintenance as well as all mandatory sbs. then it gets approved by t.c
the ftu will need a prm. if he or she is not an ame they will have to write cars exam.
does the ftu already have an mcm.....or is this what you are in the process of DOING...

and don't forget the 3 hour interrogation where the prospective PRM must quote from memory the contents of the MCM and any applicable CARs.

If you are trying to write an FTU MCM from scratch, well, the best of british luck on how you're going to spend the next year of your life.

IMHO, break out the chequebook and pay a few tens of thousands of dollars to a consultant - usually a retired TC inspector - to have him push the paper for you.

yes the infamous interview....I personally have not yet had the pleasure, but look forward to it.
I also agree that if you are creating a manual...contract someone with experience. It will save time(which =money) in the long run.
