At Vietnam Airlines they are very generous with the fuel and we get paid salary and so we often fly .82 instead of .80 or econ.
On this occasion the Capt wanted to see us break 700 so he bumped it up to .83 and turned the A/C off the airway for a second to get more tailwind.

Saw 408KTS in descent (398KTS in cruise) in a BE20 one time. Also have seen 135KTS in level flight...Could have flown it backwards.

I did over.90 in decent last week by mistake
, but have spent a lot of time over.86 to.87 this past month. One Capt really likes going fast....

well I am far from that,
the best I've got so far is 257 knots in the HO in cruise at 12.5,
and 271 knots in the decent.
I was happy for that, now 700 knots thats just awesome, can you imagine the concorde routinely did that.

I've also broken 400 knots in a King Air 200... in the descent too.

Piper Navajo 310 heading east over the Sierra Nevada's, level flight at 17000 feet, saw 295 knots groundspeed. Level flight. Couldn't believe it.

Sounds like an Airbus pilot, "hold on to your panties, we're at .82" seen .88 in cruise for long periods, .901 in a decent once, but thats a 747 400 for ya...

Lost in Saigon, do I understand you're flying a 763?
The current 763 ground speed record is 700 kts at
http://groundspeedrecords.com/
You way want to add you name to the list...

PS: Me? 175kts in a Katana C1 once. Alas, no camera.

Went 170 in a katana once for toronto-montreal flight, had a 50 knot tailwind at 9500. Did the flight in less then 1.5 hours (takes 50 min by jets), not bad for a single piston 2 seater!

This is why I especially like the GNS 430, because it has a high score page. Only complaint is that you can't put your name next to it.

338 KTS in a 182, I think it’s rigged, or he had a jet strapped to the belly of it!

Did you notice that a lot of the photo evidence is from DME readouts? Or just the GPS screen? There's probably more than one fake in there.

Seeing as the VNE on the 182 is around 172kts I would think the plane would not survive 332kts.
but that is just my opinion. Any one care to argue?

well rejd, if the pilot had the 182 at 172kts and had a 160kt tailwind component that would equal 332kts groundspeed. It has nothing to do really with the aircraft surviving. This scenario would not exceed the aircraft's limitations.

of course that supposed jetstream that this pilot was riding would have had to been pretty low for that airplane
