The guy on 102.1FM Edge (Toronto)

Post by DiscoDashSeven »

Was driving through today and during the All-Request Nooner, some guy "Andrew" called up to make a request. The DJ asked him what he wanted to do for a job and he said he wants to be a pilot. Then he proceeded to let her (and all of Toronto) in on a little secret. He told her that MOST pilots don't really know what they're doing and merely pretend as to not scare the passengers. I can't quite remember the rest of his "insight" but I called Input 102 to voice my concern.

Anyone else offended by this?

S.

What, you're gonna let some rock punk with an IQ of a fish offend you?

Who cares probably just some teenager who is excited about the remote possibility of becoming a pilot and wanted to pretend he knew what he was talking about and let the world know.

Just curious, did you get through and did they air you?

Well stuff normally doesn't bother me since most of it is on here and 50 other people beat me to it when someone says something stupid. My problem is that I think the public might believe him. This industry is fragile enough without people like him.

As for if it got on or not, no idea. If someone hears it, let me know.

Don't worry. The public all know that pilots are usually too drunk to worry about frightening the passengers...

Oh great. First 9-11, then SARS, West Nile, soaring fuel prices and now Andrew. Will the travelling public ever forgive us?
