Obviously I missed something in the phantom thread. Was it juicy? Probably not. Back to hibernation. And yes I agree, the folks at ConAir are good people as are 99% of other people you will meet at fire base. Avoid the 1% though.

Said aircraft is currently at the home company facility in Abbotsford, BC. for mods to make it contract compliant.

Could not agree more with the above! What next? I better not buy new underwear within a month of my next interview lest I be chastised and convicted of "selling out" my coworkers by some anonymous shut in? You guys are off your rockers. On the actual theme of this thread. My last "airline", and I us...

Conair. For several reasons the telephony had to be changed. Increased flying in airspace used by similar sounding call signs, ie COMAIR, being one of them.

Re: Conair Group, Falko sign marketing agreement
Just to get a few words in on this. I understand that Conairs stake in AeroFlite is a controlling interest. What that means is anyone guess but with a USDA/FS RFP now closed asking for Large tankers you can bet bottom dollar that Conair/AeroFlite are going to be a contender. The RJ85 is looking like...

Re: Fire suppression movement and rumours!
Several CV580s on the move to parts of California. Possibly two and TC690 to Chico(northern) and maybe one to Porterville(halfway between SFO and LAX). One still in Nevada and another couple out there somewhere.

Re: Fire suppression movement and rumours!
Yukon is empty of FireCats, DC6 and Aerostars...was that the last year? Maybe as YK has put out a very specific RFT making a return of those types a non-option. Alberta is sort of empty but has extended one CV580 and TC690 as they are on export to USFS and maybe in Montana or Nevada. BC has two L-18...

Re: Aero Union P3's USFS contract cancelled
Possibly a couple red and black on white CV580s from Alaska are heading south to meet up with one more from Abbotsford. Idaho maybe? Don't know if that is the main base for USFS tanker ops in the area or what but here's the first of the Cavalry(now they just need a battle) and one could imagine that...

Re: Canadair CL415 and the AT802
Yes that is a ridiculous statement. Fact is the Alberta Gov, an agency that owns CL215/Ts, has contracted 8 FireBoss and often has an additional 2 on short term contract. That could lead one to believe that there is, wait for it wait for it....a need for various types. Did he just say that? Oh yeah!...

Re: CONAIR L-188
Unlikely the S2F will hit the market at all. Conairs m.o. has been to remove retired Air Tankers (and some Bird Dog aircraft) from airworthiness status. Some may continue to be maintained as spare for existing contracts, some may go to museums or maintenance schools for static purposes, some may get...

Re: Air Tractor 1002
AT-1002 will have a 21,000 pound t/o weight making it 5000 pounds heavier than the AT-802. And yes it will be(at this point)powered by the -67F, same as on the enhanced 802 making the power to weight ratio about the same as the -67AG 802. Add to that the extra airframe of the 1002 being presented to...

Re: CONAIR L-188
The four FireCat/Aerostar group previously based at YXX will be replaced by a single L-188/TC690 group with a yet to be named home base. The two CV580/TC690(no more Aerostars)x2 groups are back. The previous YKA two FireCat/two AT802/Aerostar group will be a four AT802/Aerostar group with a yet to b...

Re: Air Tractor 1002
Wrong. I am not sure how one would conclude that a two tank fuel hauling system has any similarity to a fire fighting gate type delivery tank. The 1002 has the same design and function as previous tanks ranging all the way back to the S2, S2R, AT301 etc. There are a few types of gates for various pu...

Based on the type of work they were doing at the time(drill moves?) they were not working for BCFS.

Re: Company cancels sat phone/tracking...heli over due
The sat phone/tracking system would have been installed to meet the requirements for conducting BCFS operations. The cost of operating this system would be offset with an approved rate increase(ie previous cost $800/hr now $815/hr) during the operating season. It is expensive as the tracking system ...

Re: Air Tanker Activity
Anyhow, back to the original theme. Things are wrapping up out west. Most of the BC tanker drivers are pushing 200hrs and BDs into the high 200s(some into the 300s). Alaska is done with tankers going well over 100 hrs and Alberta guys that went on the road would have done well also. At one point BC ...

Re: Air Tanker Activity
I guess BC is the only hot spot this year. Zero going on in Alberta and all points east from what I here. Yukon lads are still into it with an extra Convair in town. Alaska has extended one Convair and the other one went directly to work in BC after departing Alaska. Some guests lending a hand in BC...

Re: Air Tanker Activity
BC has had it's first day of rain this season. Back up to 25-32 degrees for the most part. Alberta has had extensive rain the last few days but this too shall pass. Yukon still warm and dry and Alaska is....Alaska. Maybe we will see some "easterners" out west this year for a month or two.
