Re: Interested by Sky Regional Airlines, please consider

ok the problem is that even with status pay Jazz wages are still awful compared to other operators I know of running the same equipment... some companies are paying there dash 8 -100 series cpt's more per year than a jazz cpt is making and that company i'm speaking about has there pilots home every...

Re: What is happening this year? Why so many fatalities?

What part do the accidents primarily fall within? That is your answer... Inadequate training and 24 month PPC's mixed with inexperience and high levels of fatigue from non-stop 14 hour duty days for weeks on end operating fully loaded scabby aircraft with nil regulator oversight... paying your dues...

Re: College of Pilots?

to have better educated people applying for flying job you might have to change standards, or the general career path and the industry's mindset. that's why everything won't change right now but in few years. taking the habit to think long-term should be the pilot's mindset in general, instead of c...

Don’t you just want to get back at Air Canada because you feel it hurt you? They did indeed, but I don’t get mad at people, I just get even . [Laughs] But look around the world. Even our old friend [Warren] Buffett got into airlines and he says it is the worst business he’s ever been in. What an id...

Re: Ottawa to tighten rules governing corporate jets

Another move by the conservatives to restrict freedoms. I have been reading a lot of bitching and complaining on here about how TC is moving in the wrong direction as far as giving up oversight and licensing. Seem like Baird is hearing the masses and I suspect this is the first of many steps to com...

Re: Jetstreams are so roomy Inside!

Only a pilot would notice the airplane interior "deviations" in the background! There is a picture of a beautiful girl at the top of this thread and you guys are comparing performance specs?? From a customer standpoint and on a more serious note, if I saw that I would take it as a message sent indic...

"Leaky bag" leads to lawsuit

Somewhat bizarre: [quote] MONTREAL - A Westmount resident's lawsuit against Air Transat, for failure to provide him with appropriated medical attention during a flight, was dismissed in small claims court this past Tuesday. His illness? Sudden and mysterious bleeding in the area between his legs. Th...

CYXE- I think you missed my point or part of my explanation. I'm not saying that every profession requires you to do different tasks.....but what i am saying is that if you want to get ahead, it's often not just seniority that people take into account. That might not be fair but it is reality. Yes,...

Re: College of Pilots?

As I believe "Doc " mentioned .Last I heard this is a free country. I know of several individuals who have taken more than double the time to complete the requirements of the PPL,CPL and IFR. If they are willing and it is not unsafe then who are any of us to say they are not allowed to continue the...

Re: College of Pilots?

Doc, Would you argue that it is easier to weed out the bad, morons with the current 5 exams, and NO mentorship method? or by putting pilots through 4 years of training with EXPERIENCED instructors? ( and by experienced I dont mean 600 hrs of instructor time) Why not just simply tell people they are...

Re: College of Pilots?

I can't see having a University or College degree being a requirement, nor would it be fair unless everyone currently in possession of a Commercial or ATPL without a Degree or Diploma surrenders their Commercial/ATPL License. If that happened there would be a lot of job openings across the board. Co...

Wow, as much as I love bush flying and back country flying I am way more white-collar corporate in the way I think and articulate myself. From the one episode I have seen all I can think is the show should be called "Hillbilly Meet Airplane". Kind of a Deliverance theme. I respect the conditions th...

Anybody who wants to work beyond 60 yrs of age is NUCKING FUTS   Agreed. However, 3 ex wifes, some shiny German cars in the garage and living in a small mansion of sorts will do it as well. Between the "the longer you work, the sooner you will die", and the fact that I believe the l...

Re: 787 Test Flight Dec 15th

The 727 looked like it was built for speed. This, and most new airliners nowadays, look like the eraser end of a pencil...the sharp end being on the tail. Agreed, but one of the things that grab my attention about the 787 is how the windshield blends in with the rest of the nose of the a/c for exam...

Another great show I thought. I think it covered alot of ground tonight. The challenges of ferrying an airplane built for summer in winter conditions without the range for the trip, windshear, working on engines outside in minus 40, CRM, no radio contact with one of the a/c for a while, and last but...

Re: Address Change Fine?

Seems a little over the top when you consider how many of us don't update the address right away. I have always done it when submitting medicals, renewing IFRs etc. There should be a designated Inspector asigned to your file you can always call and explain.... see what he says. I was fined for somet...
