Re: Westjet Delta JV

I understand now, just coming up to speed on what was the main problem. Yes, if they had an agreement on fleet size agreed to by both parties, then exceeded it, that is not acceptable! Unfortunately they probably can staff easily with so many guys/girls on the street now. Is Westjet adding planes as ...

Re: Westjet Delta JV

I assume you don't work for Swoop or Rouge?

Didn't see a mass protest just a press release as quoted in my post. Asked a simple question :goodman:

Re: Sunwing captain passed out drunk in cockpit

I agree, fatigue under Canadian rules affects 100% of pilots everyday, yet no one in Transport does anything about it. Now political powers get embarrassed by a news story and things happen. I guess public perception is more important than actual safety problems that affect all crew all the time whi...

Re: Sunwing captain passed out drunk in cockpit

So I guess our report times will be 4 hours before wheels up to accommodate CASA feel ups and now breathalyzers... who is going to pay us for this publicity stunt time wasting?? Transport?? Are they going to recognize this as part of a duty day? Along with our 17 hour extended days that the free wor...

Re: Sunwing captain passed out drunk in cockpit

Because that question will prevent pilot from drinking and flying. Didn't that happen to some
AT pilots somewhat recently? I guess our canadian way of detecting alcoholism didn't work that time... but it would work on this guy...

Give you head a shake!

Where did I mention prevention???

Re: Sunwing captain passed out drunk in cockpit

Do these pilots do a Canadian Medical which goes with a Canadian license?

That should answer your question about the difference in having a Canadian license versus a LVC in Canada. I assume you hold a Canadian Medical and therefore will recall the alcohol consumption question filed yearly.

Re: Sunwing and Foreign pilots again

Well written MIJBIL! Another question is what "charges or penalties" can be imposed by TC as they state they will do in the news story. This pilot has no Canadian license? How can they suspend or revoke what he doesnt have? Do they have his last medical? Did he state on his medical form that he dran...

Re: Sunwing and Foreign pilots again

Ok, it's very easy to stop this job give away by these airlines, explain why constant wet leases and TFW's are keeping Canadian Licensed Pilots unemployed.

Write your MP, tell him/her enough...

Just google your MP for your locale and tap the email button!

Re: Liberals to lift foreign ownership of domestic airlines

That is a valid point...I realize Sunwing does send quite a few wet leases overseas, I agree that is helpful to offset these leases, how about Transat? They have foreign wet leases I see, do they Send A/C overseas?

Re: Liberals to lift foreign ownership of domestic airlines

Thanks for the link longtimer! So, the wet leases are not long term versus investment. If I start my charter ad hoc company, and I bid on the wet leases that are currently ran yearly by the Canadian leisure airlines, would I be competing with the foreign wet leases or would my Canadian company be in...

Re: Liberals to lift foreign ownership of domestic airlines

A question, does anyone know how many foreign wet leases will be operating in Canada this winter? I know there are some varying views on foreign ownership of a Canadian airline company but what about the wet leases that operate here about 50% of the year. It seems that foreign companies out bidding ...

Re: Liberals to lift foreign ownership of domestic airlines

Foreign investment brings lower wages? Have you looked at the average pilot wage in Canada lately? Why do you think they are so low? There are a few who earn good wages but the majority have to commute long hours to work, and work long duty times since Transport needs 18 years to study safety. Why? ...
