Re: Air Canada Pool

The degree is just there because of the high application number...try to refer to it when you hit a severe CAT at FL 390. You need the right skills/experience to deal with hitting CAT but I can refer to MET courses I took in university to try and avoid CAT. Not saying every degree helps but to say,...

Re: 407 ETR

My advice is get a transponder and take the 407 when the traffic's bad. I had a one commuting from Hamilton to YYZ. I didn't use it often but it bailed me out more than once. If i'm not mistaken it's around 2$/month to lease a transponder which gets rid of the $5 charge everytime you get on with out...

What if you had an engine failure at night in a single engine aircraft?!! I have been wanting to build my x-country time at night but the idea of an engine failing at night time is kind of scary (You don't have many (if any) options) and is possible.. Turn on your landing light upon reaching 100' A...

*Underpower
*Minimal payload
*No rearward visibility
*No nose-wheel steering

Keeping the tradition alive: Two step behind the Europeans
$109,500 - I think this is the pull, not payload, rearward vis, or nosewheel stearing.

It's nice when you come across a big airline driver that still remember's what it's like to be on the other end of things. Once upon a time slinging bags for WJ we had an FO jump into the pit and help pack because they were going to take a delay. Not only did he help out with the bags he chatted wit...

To the original poster: if you won't go back and try to help fix IFR flight training (and I can't blame you, for the crap instructors are paid) why would you expect anyone else to? I don't. As I mentioned previously that's the whole problem. Why do people expect to consistently get more than they p...

Sorry you seem so bitter about your training experience. I know it's definitely come across this way but the fact is I did have a good time training for my IFR rating and on a personal level got along very well with my instructors. It's more retrospectively that I've come to think about these issue...

I have a suggestion to fill this void in the instructing world - why don't you quit your current job now that you are filled with IFR knowledge and go get an instructor rating and pass on your cloud experience to these new and green IFR pilots-in-training? First of all; at no point did I say I have...

I find it interesting that the IFR rating is regarded as something you just finish and then really lean from real world experience. Obviously this is the case with most, as it was for me. I learned more in my first few charters than I did in any lesson during training. But isn't this the problem??? ...

First of all, I should point out that, in general, I was happy with my flight school which is in S. ON, and to be honest I'm not sure how much blame can be put on the instructors themselves as they're just doing there job to the best of their abilities/knowledge. The problem is I feel like most IFR ...

Green IFR Instructors

After being in the industry for a year now and getting some actual IMC hours in a PA31, I've come to realize that many of the people that taught me my IFR rating knew very little or nothing about flying IFR. I'm pretty sure that some of them had never been in a cloud before. I know this shortcoming ...

Hey Awsome... I finished my training there last year and can tell you I have no regrets about it. WWFC is a good school with fairly good resources and pretty decent airplanes as far as flight schools go. I was finished my training from Start to CPL, Multi, IFR in 18 months and that's with a couple m...

As a guy who graduated last May. I can tell you that there's no critical pilot shortage, although there is more and more movement through the industry.
