I've learned that we still got boomers who think once you've done one thing for the profession that gives you carte Blanche for the rest of your career to not have to do anything

Or that since unions don't always succeed due to the environment at the time or because you're in a very unfriendly labour country like Hong Kong that unions can't win

"Let me tell you about xx"

Fact is while you can learn from the past, the current labour environment in Canada is extremely favorable. In fact, it probably couldn't get any better

If you just stick to the basics, organize a strong collective group that believes they WILL win. You WILL win

No excuses

So I'm being forced to eat a bit of crow here.

TransAt FA's rejected the second offer to the tune of 82%. I mentioned a "disconnected" MEC on their part "might" be a possibility, and this has proven true. I stand corrected.

Time for the FA's at TransAt to shit-can CUPE.

What an embarassment to be sooo out of touch with the Memberships goals. Aren't surveys done, or are they just "spitballing"??? Either way, very weak performance on behalf of CUPE. Looks to me like they are targeting 51% yes. Perhaps in another dozen votes they'll get there.

Weak, weak , weak.

And there it is... F you, I got mine.

Is there any line that better represents the "Canadian mentality" of your generation?

I'll leave you to your saviour complex young'n.
I bet you don’t even tip the shuttle drivers. Gotta save that dollar.

What’s the latest news on the TA FAs? I heard they are going for another vote and this time they’ll be giving up their right to strike? Anyone with inside information?

Why would they give up a -right- enshrined in the Labor Code? Not sure a "right" can legally be waived by anyone.

That seems very bizarre.

I’m not sure but I did read a very brief statement about this on LinkedIn. I was looking for further information which is why I was asking? If true I have no idea why they would agree to that myself.

AirTransat CUPE has missed the mark badly in the first two votes. Personally I would kick them to the curb, or at least shake them up for being so detached from their Membership. This possible "rights waver" if true, is just more fuel on the "dumpster fire" going on with the FA's. Something smells bad.

Best of luck to them.

They did waive it. They’re doing info sessions for their membership this week, to present them with the mediation report they will be voting on. Apparently TA2 is guaranteed if they vote yes with the added mediation report item(s). If they vote no it’s straight to an arbitrator who will decide with TA2 minimum from what I’ve been told.

Why? Why? Why?

Agreeing to an arbitrator?

I guess traitor is the root word in that word.
