Bit of a side track, but if you call yourself a "co-joe" then perhaps you don't deserve to get paid better.

Anyone know what the pay is for the Caravan or Metro. Do they have jump seat agreements and a benifits package?

Why are they looking for so many Pilots?

Anyone working there want to share any info.

Thanks

Seems there is lots of movement at the bottom. Guys on the jets are probably sitting in them and turboprop guys are leaving for jet jobs. that would be my guess

I think they are looking for minimum 500hrs TT. But like xsbank said even if you dont meet it apply anyways. I applied for a Hawker 800 FO job with 275hrs. Mins were 1000hrs but the Chief pilot said it was ok to apply still. I told him I would call him again in a year.

This Hawker job was not at sunwest btw

Ok. $2.50 an hour from check in till an hour after you get back from the trip. Thats the per diem rate for all flights except the cargo runs, they are a little different. As for time, about 1500 hours seems to be bench mark, not to say people with less time wont be looked at. I have heard that things are in the works that would make it possible for 200hr+ people to get on. I do not know a time frame for that though. The number of pilots I have heard they are looking for should help with the schedual, although I know its not as bad as other places right now. As for numbers to be hired I am not to sure but I dont see the job posting from them getting any less. I hear they are looking for 1900 Capts and dont think they have put anything out on that yet. Always remember, where would you like to be if the music stopped tommorow? A place where the biggest thing you could fly is a 1900 or 200, or a place with a hell of a lot of jets? Things happen, many of use have seen it, some twice.

Broompusher, are the benefits better than when you worked at Regency/Sonic Blue????
that's no big deal I'm sure Regency gave him better benefits than I did. Aside from all the free booze and women. :-)

Are you sure their replacing the hawker and falcon? Aren't they like new airplanes? Although with that cheap US dollar maybe now is the time to buy airplanes.

Hawker and Falcon are to be replaced for more versatile aircraft. 3 Sovereign are rumored to be the answer. The Falcon was for Ecuador but they are not going there now.

C208 is single pilot from what i recall. They are in desperate need.

They are looking for so many pilots because of:

Airline hiring and the lack of applicants that meet contrail that are willing to sign a bond.

No jump seat. Benefits are excellent.

They are going through pain like all of the other carriers. I would not take their conituous search for pilots as a knock against them. It is just a fast market right now.

Pilot quits, replacement takes over a month with training time. Less pilots on the flight line means more hours for everyone. This means less happy crews...

Speaking of Contrail... any word about reducing the required minimums?

That’s a good thing, because it means two things are currently happening in the industry.
  • 1 - The industry is growing
  • 2 - Pilots are starting to wake up & realize that they should NOT have to pay to work!
(btw I'm not saying that Sunwest makes their pilots pay to work)
