Hornblower wrote:wow, you can hear a pin drop on this. I was thinking there would be a lot more said on this significant "safety action" by TC. This is a well known company that serves a rather large area of northern Canada with some relatively large cargo hauling aircraft. Is there going to be no hardship in the Northwest due to the loss of capability, who will pick up the slack especiallly into those smaller strips that FAB can't go to? Are there enough -6s to do the work, at what cost to the communities? It would be interesting to hear the perspective of some involved, as well as other locals.

One BT-67 is probably worth more than Joe's entire non water bombing fleet.

In resale value or revenue generation? You do realize that Buffalo's fleet was paid for long ago, right?

Hold up! So they haven't even proven these case and they are smearing business? So if one of those companies is found to have done no wrong can they sue TC for slander?

I would be more concerned about people posting and operating these forums being sued for slander. As many faults as TC has i doubt they don't have all their ducks in order before they make a move like this. Keep in mind they don't run to the media and bragg they just shut someone down. Its usually someone else that calls the media and they follow up.

I know Ice pilots had a lot a BS in it. But allowing some of the things to be played on National TV is like waving a Red flag in front of a Bull. I am sure there was more then one person that worked at TC that watched Ice Pilots and said what the F. I am sure in more then one instance they questioned what they saw. I bet Joe response was its only TV. Well boys it may on be TV but they call it Reality TV. Which is suppose to me this really happens. I guess if your wiling to allow this crap to be posted real our not you need to be prepared to be put under a microscope. Fat it no one runs a clean ship i don't care who you are. If you go under i microscope some germ will be found. I am sure there were a few TC guys that thought tis show made them look like idiots.

If the folks of TC are so stuuupid that they actually believe reality TV is real, perhaps they should be working at somewhere that requires less intellect and honesty, perhaps fast food?

I am thinking it was probably more about those that don't understand aviation and whats real and is not. Like i said wave a Red flag infant of a Bull and watch what happens.

I suspect it has more to do with overloaded planes not being able to maintain altitude after an engine failure rather than anything to do with Ice Pilots.

Overloaded planes and other violations I guess, but anyone who is in the know, and yes even from watching the TV show, you have to have seen it. TC is after him, personally and otherwise his company. There is very obvious animosity there. Why else would they have demanded he step down as AE after that last accident (as if they had any legal authority to do that) ... and as if that had any affect. It's pretty obvious that Joe (that's not his real name) hates them (and most everyone else), is a cantankerous miserable old prick, and has brought a shitload of attention down on himself, which is not a good thing to do if you are not crispy clean ... ask Andy (and Catdriver)! TC can keep it up forever – you can’t. Be careful how you deal with them, they will not be fair or just if you raise their ire. Even if you win the first round or two, you can’t win in the long run.

Not, sayin’ he didn’t deserve what has happened; don’t know … waiting for the tribunal decision.

How many audits do TC have to do ( with fines) before they finally decide to pull the plug on their OC ? At the end of the day, personalities and vendettas aside, Buffalo airways must operate IAW the rules. Ice pilots and owners attitudes toward authority need not be included in this equation !

I believe the TV show did a pretty accurate job of presenting the company culture at Buffalo. Having worked at a small operation in the North many Moons ago, the TV show brought back way too many bad memories of operating in remote area's with zero support and -45 degree conditions. I believe I was able to decipher between TV and the real deal. I think Transport Canada could too, especially during multi day paperwork audits.

In regards to Transport Canada, is it possible Buffalo was being tolerated by the old Conservative Transport Minister? Theres a new Liberal Sheriff in town now with Marc Garneau.

I don't understand why Buffalo hasn't made a press release. They made that small Twitter post but that's it. I figured they would want to defend the allegations made against them in order to save face with not only their customers but with general population (they are celebrities now). What's the plan up their sleeve?

If you read the accident report from the 2013 DC3 crash in yzf, it is plainly stated that Buffalo does not complete their weight and balance calculations prior to flight.

They do them during, or after the flight.

This was noted previously during an audit and not rectified.

Pretty simple, and deserving, reason for a shutdown.

How many 705 operators that crash once a year fall into that category?
