How would you answer these interview questions?

I'm preparing myself for an eventual job interview and I found some tricky questions I‘d like to know your opinions on the proper answer: - The Capt. continues an approach beyond minimum's, he tell's you that he's shot this approach a 1,000 times, know's the area, and everything's fine. What will yo...

Re: International Pilot Shortage

I agree the shortage is in Asia, but it's interesting to know how many canadian pilots are leaving the homeland and go to work overseas. At the level of experience the asian airlines demand, they need to have already few thousands hours on airline jet and that means over 30 years old, family, kids, ...

Manual flush override A very young French FA was doing her first line indoc flight on a dash 8. After replying no the crew explained to her that the lav doesn't flush properly all the time. I...

Re: Online VNCs for flight planning

In some ways I like how the US does it. :| US... The government collects stuff (say imagery/maps, etc) and its available to the public. Under the premise that they have already paid for it. So it is not really right for citizens to pay for it a second time. FAA is governement's and Nav Canada is pr...

Re: Strong x-wind? declare an emergency.

This is not an emergency...If they didnt like the winds at JFK, get a clearance to their alternate. Why go to the alternate when there is an into-wind runway at JFK? Yeah, and why didn't they land on Intersate 287?! A closed runway is a closed runway, you don't like it... go to your alternate or re...

Re: Priming a Continental O-200, Lycoming O-320

On a Lycoming it doesn't squirt right into the cylinder it actually squirts in front of your intake valve, that is why if you overprime it runs out of the air box. The same port is used for the manifold pressure gauge. That's correct. In the cylinder, the high pression would destroy the primer pump...

I did mine this morning (and passed). Make sure they give you a LO chart. They forgot for me and I wasted the first three minutes of the test. Most of my study was based on the c******* books (somebody doesn't like avcanada displaying his name). His books are pricey but almost every big city librar...

., curious what you think of the mapping. I spoke to Anywhere Map and they said that Canada was not yet supported?? I believe they told you Canada is not yet supported for XM weather. For sure everything else is in the database for Canada. Like everything I see if it is. How do you find the auto ma...

Re: PPL Total Cost

Taxi time is flight time too, so don't worry about.
Don't think about PPL (I understood you want a career in aviation), think CPL, that mean at least 200 hours and with today price ... 38K. You should take serious in consideration to buy a part on a plane.

Re: A-320 scrapes wing on runway - video.

But what about the go-around decision after that wing strike? They were still on the runway with enough distance to stop. What if they had a structural damage or aileron malfunction? I know... it's easy to judge from the outside, but it's intresting to know others pilots opinion.

Re: 737 hits vehicle on runway during takeoff roll.

They said it was some miscomunication between an maintenance crew who was washing the runway lights and the TWR who allowed to takeoff an B733 charter flight from Bucharest to Sharm-El-Sheik Egipt. The pilot said he had 90-100 Knots when he saw the truck (without flashing lights) on the runway and t...

This is what I did. I got 1/3 on an aircraft and check the costs per year: 300$ insurance 300$ airport 500$ aircraft anual 1000 oil change and small repairs I made 150 hours in that year, that mean 14$/hour + gas 20$/hour you can get 34$ for flight hour. The cheapest C152 is 120$/hour. What do you t...

Re: Car dealer to pilot.. no idea what he's up against...

Just a quick story on how people think this is such an easy career to get into.. My father took his car in for servicing the other day, started chatting with the customer service rep and found out it was his last day... he just finished his MIFR (a 200 hour wonder) and I guess was starting a flying...
