Re: Westjet CYHZ
I’ll disagree with you (and the NTSB in this case). If your aircraft can takeoff on 5,000 ft from 0 kts and you know you won’t make it at the 6K marker, I would go around in a heart beat, if you can conduct a touch and go from (not necessarily in) the landing config. Next time I have sim time in a ...

In my experience at WJ if any pax has vomited on A/C before departure and Medlink has been called pax will be denied boarding. Captain has no choice but to listen to Medlink’s decision.

Re: ONEX plans
Maybe someone at onex will knock some sense into the higher ups. Encore also continues to bleed pilots at a steady rate, and pretty soon will need to start shrinking the schedule unless there are some incentives provided soon to get people to stick around. Or they could continue to ride all the cur...

Re: Airline lifestyle
At westjet for a YVR base it's at least 5 years maybe longer. All new hires are YYZ based. From YVR island to YYZ not a pretty commute at all.

Re: A "NEW" One List?
Is there any other airline precedent for the 'bump and flush'? I have a hard time seeing any company agree to that. Given hard times necessitating lay offs, the last thing they would want is to trigger all the expense of the sudden extra training required. Just playing devil's advocate here... That...

How about Coastal Pacific? Better option than Encore for West coast.

Re: Why does anyone want to work at WestJet?
Not for free. And not without repercussions if your intended flight goes mechanical and your back-up flight subsequently fills up and leaves you as a last minute no-show. At Westjet, no problem, you are pay protected and they will confirm you on the next available flight to catch you up to your pai...

Westjet is not the place it once was. Be prepared for a long sit in the right seat. Moral is very low.

Re: SWOOP OTS Captains punted from left seat...
Swoop has until Dec 1st to demote OTS hires. Bid closed last week for upgrades from Westjet. Timeline is tight to get training completed in time but Swoop in not yet flying to USA so crewing issues shouldn’t be a problem.

I don’t believe Aerobod is a pilot. That might put some perspective on his arguments.

Re: They were going to lock everyone out and shut the doors?
YOS, trip and duty rigs, DH inside the block and cost of living raises going forward. That's what we've asked for and that's mostly been agree to already. All industry standard stuff that WJ pilots have not had before.

Re: WJPilotFacts.com
John why isn’t WJ and ALPA negotiating next week. ALPA is ready everyday to sit down with management. It seems WJ is too busy and they now want to extend conciliation. Sorry that doesn’t work. You negotiate hard until the end and the we’ll see about an extension.
