Re: Sunwing fleet and pilot rosters for the 2015/2015 season
But are the 80+ seasonal pilots from this winter getting laid off ? From this winter, No layoffs of seasonal pilots. They have been given full-time positions, as for next winters seasonal pilots! We have no idea, much to early for that. I wonder how those Foreign pilots on the TVS wet leases worked...

Re: Sunwing fleet and pilot rosters for the 2015/2015 season
Hey Old Fella, Sunwing has its "shit together". With 30,000 plus flight a year we have at least one that makes the news, ohh my god. Especially when weather is involved, you should know better... AC and WJ can't even come close to Sunwing's Vacation product, proofs in the pudding. I won't go further...

Re: Any Type rated 737 Canadian pilots still out there ?
BBQ Chips, You are correct in your question. Yes, Air Transat has used Thomas Cook airlines from the UK to carry Canadian Air Transat passengers. They acquired "Canadian Affair" a UK based company in 2006 along with the Thomas Cook retail Travel Agency chain in Canada. This created the link-up with ...

Easy,
You start "Canjet Vacations" and essentially point a gun at the 2 largest Vacation Companies in North America. I think both SWG and TS will happily send Canjet to its grave after that. Not good.

Re: Foreign pilots: a few questions to Transport Canada
Lipstick on a Pig my friend... you need to think a little deeper, it's sad I need to explain it to you. eg. more hub in CDG versus directs to Lyon, MRS, Nice,etc... less need for current wide-body fleet (2-3+ aircraft reduction), more PAX carried on French Operated wet-leases to connect LGW and CDG....

Re: Foreign pilots: a few questions to Transport Canada
Gilles, you'll get over it. It's easy to blame government departments. I look forward to your views on Summer 2016 when Transat will feed it's European hubs (similar to Summer 2015 feeding Canadian hubs) with Transavia France B737's with French crews and F-reg aircraft, essentially a foreign wet lea...

altiplano , needs an educationo on Sunwingo - the dumping of European labour on the Canadian market - the effective subsidy this provides the Sunwing business model - the effective corporate protectionism our own government has provided what is essentially a foreign controlled airline (TUI/Sunwing)...

Re: Sunwing President Mark Williams on Foreign pilots
MW needs to stop quoting wet lease pilot numbers as there is no such reciprocity provision in the Acts that govern either wet-lease approvals or TFWP in Canada. With all due respect, who cares !! The point is that Canadians are flying airplanes during our low season and not on the street. Wet lease...

Re: To all Canadian pilots who applied to work at Sunwing.
I wonder what costs Sunwing more... paying for temporary contracted foreign Captains and all their expenses(car/accommodations) or paying temporary Canadian Captains with no ancillary expenses. Or... does TUI cover most of the expenses? TUI covers nothing, SWG pays for all crew and Aircraft from TU...

Re: Where Gillie Now?
It's called "Open Skies", look it up. Delta can fly Toronto-Paris if they want, but why would they. And of course only on Av Canada would commentary go from crying Canadian jobs with TFW's at Sunwing to "what the hell are Canadians doing flying planes out of the USA" ?? Why are they creating more Ca...

Hudicourt has "zero" to do with our hiring practices... Its called the continuous expansion of Sunwing's successful business and Hudicourt's worst nightmare.

Gilles,
Give it up man. I can't wait to see your response when Transat rips-off the same business plan and starts importing French pilots from Transavia France. TS also using Transavia SOP's, sounds like a great fit.
self-centered pilot !!

Re: Sunwing/Canjet fleet and foreign pilots, Winter 2013-201
Gilles, By your numbers which are almost correct, 250 Sunwing pilots and 120 European pilots. I would say that's better than 1:1 ratio and much better than last years imbalance. I think this is a huge improvement and is a sustainable ratio going forward, your view on not counting SWG pilots deployin...

Re: Sunwing/Canjet fleet and foreign pilots winter 2012-2013
FICU, Sunwing was making money before TUI and is making money with TUI. TUI co-operation just makes it more efficient with regards to synergies. Sunwing is run as a totally separate Canadian company, most if not all major decisions are made in YYZ. It's not as controlling as you may think. TUI is sm...

FICU, So you are hiring Canadian non 73C type rated seasonal pilots? In the post above mine you are asking for Canadian 73C type rated pilots to join SW in seasonal positions. Which is it? Not sure what post your referring to? But of course where asking for type rated pilots to apply! I don't think ...

Re: This happens in just one airline in just one western cou
FICU, know of some Canadians with thousands upon thousands of 737 hours and B73B type ratings who would like seasonal work. But wait... their experience means nothing if SW has to pay for a 73C type rating right? FYI, I would guess 90% of Canadian new hires are NOT type-rated and many of them have n...
