Insurance question

If I have my own airplane and want a class 3 instructor to come and fly with me for training, do I need special insurance? Also what if a friend has a better equipped plane, and is willing to let me bump out 5 hours with a class 3 in it, do they require special insurance?

Re: How long can you wait after completing your cpl to file the paperwork

The reason I did it was because I tested at 150 hours but the school wanted me to finish my other ratings before time building, my school really sucked and it took over 2 months to get my multi because of "booking issues" after taking 2 months and finishing my multi they told me I had to wait anothe...

Re: CPL instrument time?

Alright so I will have to bump out another 5 then taking my total to 25. Wish they made a better syllabus but I'll try and see if anywhere still has a sim open.

CPL instrument time?

Quick question, I've done all my exams and training according to the schools training syllabus, and have ended training with exactly 20.1 Instrument hours, 8.8 of which is sim and the rest is hood time, I went to file was told by the school that I didn't have enough hours, as the PPL hours don't cou...

How long can you wait after completing your cpl to file the paperwork

I finished my flight exam in August of 2019 and just finished building all my PIC time this January, the only thing I am missing is 7 hours of instrument time. I wrote my written in March last year and did my actual flight test in August, I'm pretty sure the written is good for 2 years but not sure ...

Re: Do employers care about time in experimental aircraft?

If I were to buy a Avid or Rans s6 for example with floats, and put a 100 hours of float time on it and apply to a job requiring 100 float hours, would the employer care that the time you built was in an experimental or is float time float time, same applies to other jobs such as those requiring 25...

Can you train with a class 3 instructor in a experimental aircraft?

For example, if I were to buy my own experimental, something like a rans s6 or kitfox/avid. Would I be able to do my PPL training in it assuming I hire a class 3 instructor, and if I ever go for a cpl could I use the hours gained in that aircraft towards my license?

Re: Student loans by province

Well after you get your PPL you can apply for student loans, 15k for each component of fixed wing. So I applied for the Max amount for 4 components and ended up getting $57,995.

Re: Conventional Gear Situation

I am really confused,I am not trying to "get away" with anything, the reason I asked these questions is to make sure everything I am doing is perfectly legal. After a couple of duel hours I will be flying as the PIC, I will be left seat, pilot flying, and handling any emergency at which point my unc...

Re: Conventional Gear Situation

I will be PIC in the journey Log and PIC in my logbook assuming I'm actually doing PIC flying. As for the insurance end of things it's not my airplane nor have I ever owned one so not sure what the rules for his insurance are. All I know is what I was told and it was and I quote "We don't need insur...

Hey thank you everyone for all the great info. Definetly will be vigilent with the paperwork I'll be handling most of the ground stuff, notams and such (Hate the new notam site). Conventional Gear Situation

Hey I wanted to hear some opinions on an idea my uncle and I were talking about. My uncle owns a 1947 C140 which is a tail dragger, my uncle has his private license and 1200hrs on type. I am a new pilot with my CPL tests completed and Multi engine rating, I need to build 40 hours pic to finish off m...

Re: North Wright Airways 2019/2020

The only people doing rotational schedules are direct-entry captains. Everyone else is on a 50 weeks on / 2 weeks off schedule. To answer your questions: The last I heard, it was only a few months on the ramp before being trained on the 206/207. I would assume at least six months before being train...

That's awesome, I didn't even know they did rotations. If you get the chance could you ask him how long new people usually end up on the ramp for?

Seems like you're not the first person to have complaints about Springbank: https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/former-students-sue-flight-college-and-westjet-1.4628252 Hence why I looked into my billing, seems if you left any money on the school account these mystery charges appear. That is disgusting. Unless you were an extremely slow student. Not a slow student. Finished my CPL in a grand total of 210 hours. Just a little over the minimum, only ever did 1 PGI repeat and that was back for my first cross country after I filled in the log wrong. Unfortunately PGIs weren't somet...
