Warbird and historic aircraft rides....Exemption from CARS

Exemption from CARS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finally Transport Canada has followed the USA and UK in allowing paying flights in warbirds and historically significant aircraft, including jets, without the operator holding a 700 series operating ...

Re: Cessna pilot exits plane during ground run

I don't think the owner, who got dragged across the ramp and saw his aircraft get written off when it hit the hangar, thought it was quite as funny.

Re: Bi Planes in Alberta????

Tom, it sounds like a great event, I hope I can be there. You might want to put something about it in the COPA paper and spread the word via as many flying clubs as you can. In my area alone we have 3 Stearmans, 2 Pitts, a Skybolt, a Starduster, a Tiger Moth and a Beech Staggerwing. Rhys moonbeam3@s...

Re: Specialty flight training and CAR 406.03

Leaving out the insurance issue, I would say no, but some people here are implying otherwise.
But private owners do sell hours to others, don't know if that counts as renting it.
All pretty confusing stuff, to me anyway.

Re: Specialty flight training and CAR 406.03

I've still got a couple of problems with this. Yes, as far as CARS go it seems that a commercial pilot can do, for example, tail wheel training or experience flights, or even sightseeing, on an aircraft owned by himself without requiring a 406 OC, provided such flights are not counted towards the re...

Re: Government of Canada subsidizing certain airlines in Can

I really enjoyed the personal attack on me by BverLuver, although it probably should have been on the Flight Training page. It was so wide of the mark as to be laughable, people should get their facts right, especially if they want to make accusations. Sticks and stones may break my bones but words ...

I am a pilot, hear me whine, and it doesn't stop when the engines shut down.
The old ones are the best ones.
Give it a break please, if you can't take a joke you shouldn't have joined.

Heard that TC is no longer accepting co-pilot time on any single pilot certified aircraft regardless of company ops requirements.
Might be worth checking.

Be hilarious if because of this whining by a few Canadians Sunwing had to hire and train more of them and as a result became uncompetitive, went bust, and all the Canadian pilots lost their jobs.

Re: Specialty flight training and CAR 406.03

That is true, if the aircraft that the conversion training or type experience is being done on belongs to the pilot being trained, but if he rents the aircraft from the training pilot then it surely must be " hire or reward ". TC definition, from the website, of a commercial flight is any flight in ...

Re: Specialty flight training and CAR 406.03

E.mail me if you like, I can give you my experiences of 406 vs 703 as I have both.
I don't think you are going to but I would not advise doing any sort of "hire or reward" flying on a privately registered aircraft.
Too many "experts" on here.

Re: Specialty flight training and CAR 406.03

Sorry, I'm still not convinced on this one.
What about the "hire and reward" clause. ?
So are you saying that if a chap walks in to the flying club and asks for a ride in my privately registered Stearman and I say OK, it's 300 bucks and we go, and he pays me, that's OK. ?

Re: Specialty flight training and CAR 406.03

My reply is aimed at the original post, not some of the subsequent stuff. In my opinion, and I hold 406, 702 and 703 OC's, and also train private owners on their own aircraft, the rules are pretty clear. For those items listed on 406.02 you need a 406 FTU. Aerobatics, although it's vaguely worded, i...

An opportunity exists for the right person to provide flight training, rental, sightseeing and charter in the BC Okanagan region. 406 [FTU] and 702/703 [aerial work/air taxi] operating certificates in place. It is envisaged that this would likely require an experienced instructor pilot, probably but...

I am wanting to get a bit of history together of aviation in the BC North Okanagan region and particularly the Vernon and Salmon Arm areas.
Anyone who has stories, tales or interesting facts or any other information to share, it would be appreciated.
Thanks.
