Tip for people that phone in for employment information

Do not call on a weekend. Many smaller charter companies forward the office line to a cell phone to handle calls on the weekend. This is done to handle charter requests and customer inquiries. Please do not call on a weekend, or say at 8pm on a Wednesday night when all I want to do is drink a beer a...

What happens when a flight plan is filed?

I'm just curious as to what happens when an IFR is filed. I ask because every now and then a clearance gets lost in the system, or the routing is no where near flt pln route. Who plans the route? what do they consider when planning the route? what is the turn around time from filing to receiving cle...

Re: Good news for Porter!

What is wrong with carriers suggestion rm_pic? Well, given the present state of the TTC with all the scandal surrounding their leadership, not to mention the huge amount of bad press they've been getting lately, I'd say they have bigger fish to fry, than to provide a TTC to YTZ. As it stands now, t...

Re: Good news for Porter!

Build a pedestrian bridge? Typical small town mentality! Toronto should extend the streetcar system through a tunnel to serve the island. it would serve not just the airport but all those people who like to visit the Island for recreational purposes. The tunnel need not be that much bigger than a p...

Re: The Next Gear Up Landing

We have a dead pool. How about a "gear up landing" pool? Anybody care to venture a guess as to when the next polished "professional" will manage to "forget" the landing gear? Anybody care to guess the company? It has to be within Canada, or involve a Canadian aircraft. If the crew couldn't get the ...

Where do you even start?

How does one get their foot into this kind of niche? As far as I've seen, getting jobs all seems to be a game of 'who you know'. But assuming you dont know anyone, is a matter or looking up companies with flight departments, sending resumes, and hoping to get lucky? These jobs don't seem like theyre...

Float rating in the Muskokas

I'm hoping to complete my float rating this summer while im working at a Resort on Lake Muskoka and was hoping if anyone had any contacts for that. The nearest place looks like Cloud Air, but the phone numbers on their website are down. Are there any other operators on the lake that do training? or ...

Re: Lets have a think tank on improving flight instruction.

Exactly...... But it is not a chicken and egg issue...... Instruction skills are just that a learned skill.....surely there are instructors who are worthy of more pay? without a doubt there are, but they are few and far between. I imagine it would be hard for a busy school to hire nothing but top g...

In order to improve the quality of instruction, one could increase the pay to attract experienced instructors / pilots?

40k for what??? The school I am going to is going to be just over 14k (with dorms), and that's a ppl, cpl, float, ifr..... I would look into the real flight schools where you pay tuition and the flight time is included! Heaven forbid your first job will be instructing at a "fake" flight school.

Im trying to book myself a ticket down to australia at the end of the year for the lowest possible air fare. Ill sit cargo if i have to. WTB : DC 13.4 in toronto

Hello, looking to pick up a gently used 13.4 headset for relatively cheap (150-200?). Heard that some of you Seneca boys have picked up some Bose X's and are looking to dump your old DCs? Either way, im at CYTZ 20 days a week, with the occasion stop at CYKZ.

PM me if you have anything to offer.
